Ibitokun-Hanks rambles along leading Albany past Elon 27-3
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks rushed for a career-high 210 yards on 35 carries and had a touchdown, and Albany scored two defensive touchdowns in a 27-3 victory over Elon on Saturday.
Ibitokun-Hanks accounted for almost as many yards as the Phoenix, which tallied 229 yards. His 3-yard touchdown run halfway through the second quarter put Albany (5-3, 2/3 Colonial Athletic Association) on top 10-0.
Elon (2-6, 1-4) got on the board just before halftime when John Gallagher made a 24-yard field goal.
The Great Danes padded their lead when DaeSean Timmons forced Daniel Thompson to fumble, and Julian Cox returned it from 12 yards away to score with 49 seconds left in the third quarter.
In the fourth, Rayshan Clark intercepted Conor Hughes and returned it 36 yards to score for a 27-3 lead.
Thompson threw for 116 yards while Malcolm Summers ran for 60 for the Phoenix.
