Banks 4 TDs help Cornell come back over Colgate 39-38
HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Dalton Banks threw four touchdown passes, including the game-winner with 28 seconds to go, and Cornell came back to beat Colgate 39-38 on Saturday.
Colgate turned the ball over on downs at the Cornell 43 with 2:20 left, and Banks then led a six-play, 57 yard drive, culminating with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Collin Shaw.
Colgate (1-3) ran up a 21-0 lead after one quarter as Jake Melville hooked up with John Maddaluna on touchdown passes of 93 and 51 yards. Maddaluna hauled in a 43-yard touchdown in the second quarter and Colgate led 31-12 at intermission. Melville went 23 of 36 for 399 yards and Maddaluna had 11 catches for 261 yards.
The Big Red (3-0) came back in the third quarter, as Banks ran for a 5-yard score, and then found Nick Bland on a 21-yard touchdown pass and James Hubbard for a 63 yard TD. Cornell trailed 38-33 after three. Banks finished 25 of 45 for 454 yards. Chris Walker had 110 yards on 13 carries.
