South Dakota storms back, shocks Weber St, 52-49, in 2OT
VERMILLION, S.D. -- Miles Bergner kicked a 34-yard field goal in the second overtime and South Dakota rallied from a 21-point, fourth-quarter deficit to stun Weber State 52-49 on Saturday afternoon.
Weber State's Taylor Hintze missed a 36-yard attempt in first possession of the second overtime period.
Weber State (0-2) led 21-0 midway through the first quarter after a Landon Stice 63-yard interception return and a Cardon Malan fumble recovery. The Wildcats led 42-21 after three quarter, but South Dakota (1-1) roared back with three scoring drives in the fourth.
Chris Streveler found Brandt Van Roekel on a 42-yard strike and Shamar Jackson from 26 yards out on 4th-and-12 to tie the game at 42 with 27 seconds left in regulation.
Streveler threw for 173 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 125 yards and two scores for South Dakota.
Treshawn Garrett led the Wildcats with 141 yards rushing and a touchdown.
