Bowling Green holds off North Dakota's late charge 27-26
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- James Knapke and Scott Miller hooked up on three scoring passes and Bowling Green survived a late charge to hold off North Dakota 27-26 on Saturday.
Trailing 27-20 late in the final quarter, North Dakota's Keaton Studsrud led the Fighting Hawks on a 65-yard drive to close to within one when he hit Stetson Carr from the 3 with 13 seconds remaining. North Dakota (0-2) went for the 2-point conversion and the win, but Studsrud just missed Carr in the corner of the end zone as the pass skipped off his fingertips.
Knapke threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns. Twice Miller broke free across the middle. Knapke hit him in stride for a 71-yard touchdown early in the first quarter and a 51-yard scoring strike late in the first half as the Falcons (1-1) took a 21-10 lead into the break. Miller finished with 161 yards receiving.
