Crawford kicks 3 FGs; San Jose St. beats Fresno St. 16-14
FRESNO, Calif. -- Bryce Crawford kicked three second-half field goals, including a 23-yarder midway through the fourth quarter and San Jose State beat Fresno State 16-14 on Saturday.
Kenny Potter threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Tim Crawley late in the first quarter for San Jose State (4-8, 3-5 Mountain West). Crawford kicked 28 and 22-yard field goals in the third quarter before his game-winner in the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs' offense didn't get past their own 32-yard line in the second half.
Fresno State (1-11, 0-8) scored on consecutive drives in the second quarter. Dontel James bullied in from the 1-yard line to cap a 13-play drive. San Jose turned the ball over on downs at the Bulldogs 44 on the ensuing series, and Zach Kline scored three plays later on a 32-yard run to give Fresno State a 14-7 lead.
Jeff Tedford, who was announced as the Fresno State head coach on Nov. 10, takes over the program from interim coach Eric Kiesau, who went 0-4.
