Hampton shuts out Florida A&M 33-0
HAMPTON, Va. -- Dwayne Garrett rushed for a career high 147 yards with a touchdown as Hampton shut out Florida A&M 33-0 on Saturday.
The Pirates (5-5, 4-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic) racked up 421 yards of total offense while holding FAMU (1-8, 1-5) to 168.
Hampton led 17-0 at the half with a pair of touchdown passes from Jerrell Antoine and an Adam Brown 39-yard field goal. Antoine finished with 128 yards passing and TDs to Twarn Mixson from 35 yards and Shakim Alonzo from the 16. Antoine was not intercepted.
Garrett's 147-yard game was his first 100-yard game this season. Mixson finished with 100 yards on three catches.
FAMU's Kenneth Coleman completed 8 of 16 passes for 88 yards. Montavius Williams caught five for 72 yards.
Joshua Thorne was in on 12 tackles -- four solo -- for Hampton. He was the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference leader with 113 tackles last season.
