Lane Dragons @ Bethune-Cookman Wildcats
Jordan scores lone TD as Bethune-Cookman tops Lane 7-3
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Anthony Jordan rushed for 74 yards and the game's only touchdown as Bethune-Cookman held off Lane 7-3 in the Wildcats' home opener Saturday.
After an offensive display in a 56-53 win at Grambling State last week, the Wildcats (2-1) relied on their defense with two fourth-quarter stands. Quentin Williams went 14 of 19 for 168 yards and added 63 yards rushing.
Lane (1-2) closed to 7-3 on Carlos Moore's 28-yard field goal after Ira George-Coates' fourth-quarter interception of Williams. The Dragons recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, but the drive stalled and Moore missed on a 48-yard attempt. Lane possessed the ball once more but Marcus Reynolds' heave on fourth-and-3 fell incomplete. Reynolds was 11 of 24 for 108 yards.
Bethune-Cookman lost two fumbles and was penalized eight times for 124 yards.
