Holy Cross humbles Georgetown, 45-7 in season finale
WORCESTER, Mass. -- Gabe Guild ran for two first-quarter touchdowns on his only carries of the game and Peter Pujals threw for two more as Holy Cross built a 31-0 lead in the first half and cruised to a 45-7 win over Georgetown Saturday to close out its regular season.
Holy Cross finishes its season 6-5 overall and 3-3 in conference -- its first .500 finish in Patriot League play since 2011. The Crusaders now hold a 17-11 lead in their series with Georgetown (4-7, 2-4 Patriot).
Pujals found Kalif Raymond with a 32-yard pass for a touchdown with 2:38 left in the first quarter, then hit Brendan Flaherty with a 3-yard toss less than 90 seconds into the second to make it 28-0.
Kyle Nolan found Matthew Buckman with a 6-yard pass to put Georgetown's lone score on the boards with 5:14 left in the third quarter.
