Colgate tops Lafayette 28-19
EASTON, Pa. -- James Holland's third touchdown of the day -- capping a 12-play, 77-yard fourth-quarter drive -- sealed Colgate's 28-19 win over Lafayette on Saturday.
Lafayette took a 13-0 first-quarter lead. Colgate's Chris Morgan coughed up the opening kickoff and three plays later DeSean Brown punched it in from the 3.
The Raiders turned it over on downs on the next possession and, utilizing a short field, Jacob Bissell made a 22-yard field goal. Bissell added a 40-yarder later after Lafayette forced a three-and-out.
Colgate responded in the second with a pair of long touchdown drives, with Holland scoring on 2- and 1-yard plunges, and led 14-13 at intermission.
In the third, Jake Melville used 36- and 25-yard completions to set up his 16-yard touchdown run. Two more Bissell field goals, from 38 and 26 yards out, brought Lafayette to within 2 points midway through the fourth before Colgate's clinching drive.
