Late touchdown pass helps Bucknell beat Cornell 19-14
ITHACA, N.Y. -- R.J. Nitti threw a touchdown pass to Joey DeFloria late in the game to help Bucknell beat Cornell 19-14 on Saturday.
Nitti was 20 of 33 for 174 yards passing with two touchdowns passes. C.J. Williams added 133 yards rushing on 35 carries for Bucknell (2-1).
On fourth-and-10, Nitti connected with DeFloria on a 14-yard scoring play with less than two minutes to play to put the Bison up 17-14. Bucknell's Bryan Marine intercepted Robert Somborn during the ensuing series, but Cornell forced the Bison to punt three plays later. Bucknell forced a safety to end it.
Nitti threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Will Carter in the first quarter.
Somborn threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to James Hubbard to give Cornell (0-1) a 14-10 lead midway through the fourth quarter. Luke Hagy ran for a 20-yard touchdown in the first quarter for the Big Red.
