Duquesne beats Bucknell 26-7
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Dillon Buechel threw three touchdowns, and Duquesne's defense smothered host Bucknell 26-7 Saturday night.
The Dukes (2-0) held the Bison (1-1) scoreless until R.J. Nitti ran for a 17-yard touchdown with 11:37 left in the game.
Buechel got the Dukes going on an 8-yard score to Wayne Capers in the first. The missed extra point made it 6-0. Buechel connected with Chris King for 4 yards in the second to make it 13-0. King caught eight passes for 88 yards.
Duquesne's Austin Crimmins added made field goals of 41 and 28 yards in the third to extend the lead to 19-0. Buechel wrapped up the scoring for the Dukes throwing 4 yards to Dave Thomas.
The Bison's Nitti threw for 190 yards with three interceptions.
Buechel was 15-for-28 with 172 yards. At the end of the first quarter he was 7-for-8 for 97 yards.
