Jacksonville State blasts UT-Martin 38-14
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- Miles Jones rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown, Eli Jenkins and Max Shortell combined for 213 yards passing and three touchdowns, and Jacksonville State beat UT-Martin 38-14 on Saturday.
Markis Merrill, Anthony Johnson, and Bo Brummel each had touchdown catches and Troymaine Pope added 91 yards and a touchdown on the ground for the Gamecocks (4-1, 2-0 OVC), who rushed for 285 yards on 58 carries.
UT-Martin's quarterback duo of Jarod Neal and Dylan Favre were held to just 93 passing yards on 33 attempts, including a Neal interception. UT-Martin (1-5, 0-3) finished with only 216 yards of total offense.
The Gamecocks scored the first 21 points before UT-Martin got on the board when Tony Bell returned a Pope fumble 24 yards for a touchdown. The Skyhawks lone offensive touchdown came late in the fourth on a Trent Garland 2-yard run.
