Coastal Carolina escapes North Carolina A&T 31-30
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Devin Brown's 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown -- the longest scoring play in Coastal Carolina history -- helped the Chanticleers escape with a 31-30 win over North Carolina A&T on Saturday night.
Brown's 95-yard kickoff return for a score against Virginia Military Institute on Oct. 26, 2013 had been the longest scoring play in school history.
Aaron Aiken ran for a 1-yard touchdown to give Coastal Carolina (2-0) a 24-17 lead with 1:36 left in the third quarter.
North Carolina A&T quarterback Kwashaun Quick ran for a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the second of which gave the Aggies (1-1) a 30-24 advantage with 7:16 left before Brown's record-breaking run gave Coastal Carolina the lead for good.
De'Angelo Henderson rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown as the Chanticleers gained 219 yards on 41 carries.
North Carolina A&T's Tarik Cohen ran for 133 yards and a touchdown.
