Kent St goes up in final minute, beats Akron 27-24
KENT, Ohio -- Colin Reardon threw a 5-yard pass to Chris Humphrey for a go-ahead touchdown in the final minute to push Kent State ahead of Akron 27-24 on Friday.
Kent State trailed 24-20 after Jawon Chisholm ran 80 yards for a touchdown with 4:30 left to play. The Golden Flashes then drove 77 yards in 10 plays, and on third-and-goal Reardon threw the TD pass to Humphrey with one minute left on the clock.
Akron (5-7, 3-5 Mid-American) got the ball back, but on the first play Kyle Pohl's pass was intercepted by Jordan Italiano to end it.
Reardon finished with 298 yards passing and two touchdowns, Nick Holley added two touchdowns on the ground, and Humphrey had 123-yards receiving for the Golden Flashes (2-9, 1-6).
Chisholm ran for all three of the Zips' touchdowns and finished with 184 yards.
