Northern Illinois Huskies @ Ball State Cardinals
Stingily, Northern Illinois beat Ball State 35-21
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Cameron Stingily ran for 148 yards and three touchdowns in Northern Illinois's 35-21 victory over Ball State on Wednesday night.
Ball State (3-6, 2/3 Mid-American) closed to 28-21 on Horactio Banks' 4-yard run with 10:31 left but, after the teams traded turnovers, Stingily scored his third touchdown -- on a 2-yard run -- for a 14-point lead with 2:45 remaining. Ball State's fifth turnover, a fumble, helped give the Huskies (7-2, 4-1) their sixth consecutive win over the Cardinals.
The Huskies scored on the opening possession of the game and were ahead 14-0 shortly thereafter on Stingily's 9-yard TD run that came four plays after a fumbled kickoff return. Ball State tied it 14 by halftime, but Stingily's 1-yard scoring run gave the Huskies the lead for good in the third quarter.
Jahwan Edwards scored his 48th career rushing touchdown to become the Cardinals' career points leader with 288.
