Memphis trounces SMU, 48-10
DALLAS -- Paxton Lynch threw for 307 yards and a touchdown, a 54-yard strike to Phil Mayhue, and Memphis beat SMU 48-10 on Saturday.
Mayhue finished with 96 yards receiving, and Brandon Hayes and Jarvis Cooper added 101 and 93 yards, respectively, on the ground and combined for three total touchdowns.
Memphis (4-3, 2-1 American) scored 41 of the game's first 48 points, including 21 straight to open the game followed by a 20-0 stretch after Prescott Line finally put SMU on the scoreboard with a 1-yard TD run. The Mustangs (0-7, 0-3) were limited to just 251 yards of total offense, over 300 less than their Memphis counterparts. Matt Davis finished with 46 yards rushing and Line added 38. Garrett Krstich had 59 yards passing with two interceptions.
Saturday was only the second time all season SMU managed more than six points. They remain the only winless team in FBS.
