Eastern Illinois crushes Tennessee St 51-10
CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Jimmy Garoppolo passed for 240 yards and three touchdowns as Eastern Illinois crushed Tennessee State 51-10 in the second round of the FCS playoffs Saturday.
Eastern Illinois (12-1) will face Towson next week, which beat Fordham 48-28 earlier in the day.
The Panthers built a 16-0 first quarter lead on a Taylor Duncan 3-yard TD run, a Cameron Berra 25-yard field goal and Garoppolo's first touchdown pass, a 20-yard strike to Erik Lora.
They never looked back.
Garoppolo connected with Jeff LePak from six yards out and Adam Drake (6 catches, 95 yards) for a 4-yard TD in the second quarter, while Anthony Goodman recovered a blocked punt for a score in the frame. Eastern led 37-0 at the half.
Shepard Little, who ran for 184 yards, scored on an 18-yard carry early in the third and added an 80-yard touchdown in the fourth.
