Georgia Southern defeats Elon 38-20
ELON, N.C. -- Kevin Ellison rushed for 163 yards on 14 carries to lead Georgia Southern to a 38-20 victory over Elon Saturday.
Ellison, who ran for two touchdowns, also threw for 104 yards.
Elon (2-8, 1-6 Southern Conference) took an early lead on two John Gallagher field goals. That changed quickly when Ellison broke for a 53-yard touchdown run to give Georgia Southern (6-4, 4-4) a 7-6 lead with 2:09 remaining in the first. The Eagles extended that to 17-6 at the half on an Irving Huggins score, from 2 yards out, and a Koo Younghoe field goal. Huggins had three touchdowns and 67 yards rushing.
The Eagles stretched their lead to 31-6 late in the third.
This was Georgia Southern's final game in the Southern Conference as the Eagles will be moving to the Sun Belt Conference.
Mike Quinn threw for 197 yards for Elon.
