Princeton tops Yale 59-23 to clinch share of title
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Quinn Epperly threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as Princeton downed Yale 59-23 to clinch at least a share of the Ivy League title Saturday.
Princeton (8-1, 6-0) holds sole possession of first place heading into the final game of the regular season. Harvard still has a chance to claim a share of the title with a 5-1 conference record.
Yale (5-4, 3-3) kept pace early on a TD pass from Logan Scott to Morgan Roberts to come within 14-13. But Jakobi Johnson returned the ensuing kickoff 46 yards for a touchdown, and Epperly's touchdown pass early in the second quarter opened a 28-13 lead.
The Tigers outscored Yale 28-7 in the second half. Epperly had a rushing and a passing touchdown in the third quarter, and Phillip Bhaya returned an interception for a touchdown as Princeton pulled away.
Yale's Scott threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns.
