Southern Utah defeats Weber State, 27-21
OGDEN, Utah -- Aaron Cantu threw a single touchdown pass and threw for 117 yards to help Southern Utah defeat Weber State 27-21 Saturday night.
Cantu took over in the third for injured starter Mike Sharp who led the Thunderbirds (7-3, 4-2 Big Sky) in rushing with 87 yards. Cantu was 8-of-17 on the day.
The Wildcats (1-9, 0-6) scored first on a 31-yard TD pass from Austin Chipoletti to wide receiver Cameron Livingston to lead 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Thunderbirds got on the board just 22 seconds before the break on a 1-yard rush by Levi Teo, tying the game at seven. A Colton Cook field goal late in the third gave Southern Utah a 10-point margin.
The Thunderbirds extended their lead twice in the fourth before Weber State's Cam Livingston nabbed a 7-yard pass from Chipoletti with two seconds left to tighten the score to 27-21.
