Harvard Crimson @ Columbia Lions
Harvard defeats Columbia 34-0
NEW YORK -- Conner Hempel bolted for two touchdowns, each from the one-yard line to lead Harvard past Columbia 34-0 Saturday.
Both of Hempel's scores came in the first half as Harvard (7-1, 4-1 Ivy League) took a 21-0 lead at half. Hempel had just 7 carries and rushed for minus-2 yards despite his two scores.
Two other backs scored for the Crimson. Paul Stanton Jr. touched the ball just three times. His first was 54-yard run which set up Hempel's first score. His second was a 22-yard run for a TD. Tyler Caveness rushed for a 1-yard touchdown with 33 seconds remaining.
Columbia (0-8, 0-5) was only able to reach the Crimson red zone once, and an incomplete pass ended the threat in the first half. The Lions would only reach the Harvard 36 yard-line in the second half.
The Lions were shutout for the second time this season.
