Stony Brook Seawolves @ Colgate Raiders
Stony Brook jumps ahead early, upends Colgate 27-3
HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Stony Brook used two Jameel Poteat rushing touchdowns and an interception return for a touchdown by Naim Cheesboro to move ahead early, coasting past Colgate 27-3 Saturday night.
The Seawolves (3-3) jumped ahead early as Poteat had rushing scores from seven and five yards out. Cheeseboro picked off a Jake Melville pass and returned it 52 yards for a touchdown to take a 24-0 lead at half.
The Raiders (1-5) were shut down by Stony Brook's defense, totaling just 219 yards. James Travellin was their one bright spot as he had 27 rushes for 116 yards.
Lyle Negron went 18-of-30 for 196 yards and an interception for the Seawolves.
James Kenner had 12 rushes for 70 yards while Poteat finished with 54.
Melville was 7-for-19 with 106 yards for the Raiders.
Colgate's lone points on the day came on a 38-yard field goal by Jonah Bowman in the fourth quarter.
