Southern outlasts Prairie View 62-59 in 2OT
BATON ROUGE, La. -- Dray Joseph hit Lee Doss for a 24-yard touchdown pass to prevail Southern U. over Prairie View 62-59 in a double overtime thriller Saturday night.
The Jaguars (1-2, 1-0 SWAC) overcame a 35-20 deficit, scoring 29 points to the Panthers 14 (1-2, 0-1 SWAC) in the fourth quarter to force the game into overtime. After exchanging touchdowns, Southern U. answered Prairie View's field goal with Doss' third touchdown of the game.
Joseph finished 30 of 48 for 480 yards and six touchdowns, with Doss accounting for 214 yards receiving.
Lenard Tillery had 75 yards rushing and three scores for the Jaguars.
Jerry Lovelocke completed 32 of 43 attempts for 353 yards and a score for the Panthers.
In a rushing effort that included 419 yards, Courtney Brown ran for 224 and Johnta Hebert added 153 as they each scored three times.
The teams combined for 1,397 yards of total offense.
