Butler defeats Wittenberg 49-24
INDIANAPOLIS -- Matt Lancaster passed for 205 yards and four touchdowns to lead Butler to a 49-24 victory over Wittenberg on Saturday.
The Butler Bulldogs (1-1) got rolling on the first play as Trae Heeter broke for a 52-yard run. Two plays later Lancaster hit Quinn Murphy for an 18-yard scoring play for the lead, which the Bulldogs never relinquished.
Lancaster did all his damage in the first half, hitting 13 of 17 pass attempts with no interceptions. Lancaster also had touchdown passes of 4 yards to Dylan Johnson, 16 yards to Heeter and 40 yards to Tom Judge.
The Bulldogs had a 42-3 at the half.
Wittenberg's Reed Florence also had a productive day in a losing effort for the Tigers (0-1), throwing for 298 yards and two touchdowns.
