Georgetown pounds Davidson 42-6
WASHINGTON -- Isaiah Kempf threw a pair of touchdown passes and rushed for another as Georgetown pounded Davidson 42-6 on Saturday.
The Hoyas scored five unanswered touchdowns. Kempf was 16 of 23 for 185 yards and two touchdowns, including a 22-yard pass to Jake DeCicco and a 6-yarder to Daniel Sprotte. The backfield added a pair of touchdowns, a 2-yard run by Nick Campanella and a 12-yard run by Dalen Claytor. Kempf took the ball in from 15 yards in the last minutes to score a final touchdown.
The Georgetown defense held the Tigers to just 76 rushing yards. A 24-yard interception return for a touchdown by the Hoyas' Dustin Wharton brought the game to 21-6 at halftime.
This was the first game for Tigers head coach Paul Nichols, a former Davidson starting QB and, at 32, the second-youngest head coach in NCAA Division I football.
