SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Nine Texas State players scored touchdowns on Saturday, including two fumble returns and a punt return, and the Bobcats rolled to a 66-28 victory over New Mexico State.
The Bobcats (4-8, 2-4 Western Athletic) set the pace in the first half as the team scored 49 first-half points on seven touchdowns.
The Bobcats held the Aggies (1-11, 0-6) scoreless in the second half after allowing 28 first-half points. Linebacker Joplo Bartu put together one of the best games of his career in his finale, recording career highs of 17 tackles, eight of which were for loss, and four sacks.
Shaun Rutherford capped his career with a personal-best 138 yards on the ground in addition to throwing for a touchdown, his 15th of the season.
New Mexico State's Andrew Manley threw a pair of scoring passes and ran for a TD.
