POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Chuckie Looney threw for 403 yards and four touchdowns -- three to Michael Rios -- to lead Marist over Davidson 34-21 Saturday in the Pioneer Football League opener for both teams.
Looney, who completed 17 of 26 passes, threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Calcagni in the first quarter. Then Looney and Rios hooked up in each of the last three quarters.
Rios scored on an 80-yard scoring pass in the second quarter, a 14-yarder in the third and a 71-yarder in the fourth for the Red Foxes (2-2). He finished with eight catches for a school-record 244 receiving yards.
For Davidson (0-3, 0-1), Jonathan Carkhuff threw for 274 yards and two touchdowns: a 25-yarder to Reese Williams in the second quarter and a 21-yarder to Garrett Diehl in the fourth. But Carkhuff was also intercepted twice.
Davidson linebacker Patrick Moynahan made 22 tackles.
