KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Alex Carder threw for 404 yards and two touchdowns and added another score on the ground, and Western Michigan stayed undefeated at home Saturday with a 45-35 win over Ball State.
Jordan White caught two touchdown passes and became Western Michigan's all-time receptions leader. He finished with nine catches for 172 yards. Tevin Drake had two rushing touchdowns for the Broncos (5-4, 3-2 Mid-American).
White's first score was a 40-yarder from Carder in the first quarter. Then, midway through the second, he scored on a trick play -- a 61-yard pass from fellow receiver Robert Arnheim, who had scored on the Broncos' previous possession. The wild second quarter saw seven touchdowns, four by the Broncos.
Keith Wenning tallied 335 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions for the Cardinals (5-4, 3-2). He found Orsbon Briggs for two scores and Jack Tomlinson for one. Barrington Scott and Jahwan Edwards added rushing scores.
