CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Matt Denham rushed for 216 yards and two touchdowns as E. Kentucky routed E. Illinois 48-16 Saturday.
Quarterback T.J. Pryor completed 79 percent of his passes and threw for a touchdown in a game that E. Kentucky (2-3, 1-1 OVC) dominated with 374 rushing yards at a clip of 7.3 yards per attempt.
Denham notched both his touchdowns in the first half as E. Kentucky built a 27-10 halftime lead. Jeremiah Williams capped a 5-play, 53-yard drive at the 11:11 mark in the third quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run to put E. Kentucky up 34-10. On the ensuing drive, E. Illinois (1-5, 0-4) countered with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Jimmy Garoppolo to Jeremy Rykard, but failed a two-point conversion to cut the lead to 34-16.
E. Illinois was held scoreless the rest of the game as E. Kentucky scored one more touchdown in the third quarter and another late in the fourth quarter to go up permanently 48-16.
