Ohio 35, Kent State 32

ATHENS, Ohio (AP) -- Kalvin McRae rushed for 200 yards and two

touchdowns and Voncarie Owens ran for 139 yards and two scores to

lead Ohio to a 35-32 win against Kent State on Saturday.

McRae's second-quarter touchdowns of 4 and 21 yards helped open

up a 21-2 halftime lead for Ohio (2-2, 1-0 Mid-American

Conference). Kent State made it 21-9 at the half on Jon Sessler's

73-yard interception return.

The Bobcats widened their lead to 35-18 on Owens' 75-yard

touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

Kent State (1-3, 0-1) responded with a 60-yard touchdown pass

from Michael Machen to Najah Pruden. Machen, who was 15 of 32

passing for 282 yards and five interceptions, later left the game

with an injured knee.

Backup Jon Brown hit Pruden, who had 200 yards receiving, with

an 8-yard touchdown to bring the Golden Flashes within 35-32 with

1:54 to play.

Travis Mayle's onside kick attempt was recovered by Cameron Bobb

before it traveled the required 10 yards and Ohio ran out the

clock.

Austen Everson threw 13-of-19 for 145 yards, two interceptions

and a touchdown to Scott Mayle.

The win was Frank Solich's first in Mid-American Conference

play.
