Northeastern 56, Towson 41

BROOKLINE, Mass. (AP) -- John Sperrazza passed for 312 yards and

three touchdowns and linebacker Jamil Young made a critical

interception as Northeastern survived a third-quarter rally for a

56-41 win over Towson on Saturday.

Northeastern (1-3, 1-1 Atlantic 10) led 41-7 early in the third

quarter, but Towson scored 28 unanswered points to pull within

41-35.

With Towson (2-2, 0-2) driving for another touchdown, Young

intercepted Sean Schaefer's pass in the end zone and the Huskies

went on to score 15 points in 24 seconds to seal the win.

Following Young's interception, Sperrazza capped a 5-play,

80-yard drive by splitting two Towson defenders to find Cory Parks

in the end zone with 8:25 left.

Following the kickoff, Cornelius Bunch recovered a fumble and

Maurice Murray scored on an 8-yard run with 8:01 left.

Murray ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns, while Parks caught

nine passes for 205 yards and a touchdown and also ran for a score.

The teams combined for 1,067 yards of total offense.

Sperrazza, making his first career start, threw two

first-quarter touchdowns and Northeastern's defense forced two

first-quarter turnovers as the Huskies took a 17-0 lead after the

first quarter and a 34-7 lead at halftime.

Andrae Brown's 60-yard touchdown catch at the end of the third

quarter pulled Towson within 41-35.

Brown finished with 222 yards receiving and tied a conference

record with five touchdown catches, while Schaefer completed 21 of

31 passes for 383 yards and five touchdowns.
