News: 4 days agoWhite rushed seven times for 22 yards and caught two of three targets for five yards in Sunday's loss to Dallas in Week 1.

Spin: White had a long run of nine yards but was held to 13 yards across his other six carries. He did see a substantial amount of action, logging 27 offensive snaps to Jacory Croskey-Merritt's 33, with Kaytron Allen mixing in for six snaps. White was the only one of the trio to gain positive yards through the air, and he's likely to feature as the Commanders' top pass-catching back in 2026 while mostly deferring to Croskey-Merritt on the ground.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: White signed with the Commanders after spending his first four seasons with the Buccaneers. The 2022 third-round pick operated as a feature back in 2023 (he finished in the top five among backs in touches, yards and fantasy points), but he played a situational role during his other three seasons. White is fine as a rusher, but he's a standout as a receiver. He's the only back in the NFL with 40-plus catches in each of the past four seasons, and his 89.1% career catch rate is easily best in NFL history among players with 100-plus targets. The 27-year-old is the favorite to lead the Washington backfield, but Jacory Croskey-Merritt and perhaps others will be involved. White will find himself on the weekly flex radar as long as he remains atop the depth chart.
