News: 2 days agoAllen turned four carries into 16 yards during the Commanders' 24-22 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.

Spin: Allen didn't record his first NFL carry until the third quarter, though he did log three rushes for 11 yards during the Commanders' final offensive drive of the game. The rookie sixth-rounder played only seven snaps on offense, well behind fellow running backs Jacory Croskey-Merritt (34) and Rachaad White (29). Allen figures to see limited work out of the Commanders backfield this season unless one or both of Croskey-Merritt and White were to miss time. Washington has another NFC East matchup on tap, a Week 2 road tilt against Dallas on Sept. 20.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Allen was selected by the Commanders in the sixth round of April's draft. Allen has a good size and a solid efficiency profile, having ranked seventh in this rookie class in YAC (3.35) and 10th in forced missed tackle rate (4.5) during his four seasons at Penn State. Though he out-carried fellow draft prospect Nicholas Singleton in all four seasons at PSU, Allen was less involved as a receiver (career 70-490-4 line, including a weak 5.1 YPT) and doesn't figure to get much run as a receiver in the pros. Allen is a long shot as a sixth-rounder, but he's a name to monitor considering the state of the Washington backfield (Rachaad White, Jacory Croskey-Merritt). If Allen impresses during the offseason, he could sneak onto the fantasy radar.
