Barring a major surprise, this will be the first time since 2004 and the second time in the last 24 years that no Heisman Trophy winner will make the NFL playoffs.
Jameis Winston represents the last hope, with his Buccaneers barely alive in their quest for a playoff spot.
None of the eight other active Heisman winners -- Derrick Henry, Marcus Mariota, Robert Griffin III, Cam Newton, Mark Ingram, Sam Bradford, Reggie Bush and Carson Palmer -- will be in the playoffs.
Although no Heisman winner played in the 2004 NFL playoffs, one (Charlie Ward -- 1994 Heisman) played in the 2004 NBA playoffs. Ward averaged 2.2 points in five postseason games for the Spurs.
This will also be the first time in the brief history of the College Football Playoff that no Heisman Trophy winner will participate.
Lamar Jackson and Louisville are playing in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl on Saturday. The three previous winners -- Winston, Mariota and Henry -- all were a part of the playoff.
