Are there nine teams better than the Seahawks going into 2016?

Every weekday morning, we'll round up local and national Seattle Seahawks-related links.

Chris Burke of SI.com has the Seahawks 10th in his power rankings:

So long as Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Bobby Wagner and Pete Carroll are around, the Seahawks are going to remain a team to be reckoned with. This season will be no different, and their two showdowns with NFC West rival Arizona (Weeks 7 and 16) are as must-see as any other games on the NFL calendar.

Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times kept his eyes on Thomas during Tuesday's practice:

Thomas has been so good and so consistent the last several years that sometimes I find myself not watching him during practice because you know what you’re going to get. But on Tuesday, I tried (key word: tried) to focus on Thomas during the team portion of practice, and one thing stood out, which is the thing that always stands out about watching Thomas: He flies to the ball. He is so decisive, and when he makes up his mind, he doesn’t hesitate. He just goes. There was one play in the flat, a quick pass, and Thomas read it, reacted and arrived around the same time as the ball. In other words: He looked just like you’d expect Earl Thomas to look.

The Seahawks have added edge defender Josh Shirley to their roster, writes Stephen Cohen of SeattlePI.com:

After transferring to UNLV for his final year of college, Shirley signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent last year.

The 24-year-old eventually signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and saw action in four games before finishing the season on the Raiders practice squad. He signed a futures deal with Seattle in January, but was released after the draft.
