PHILADELPHIA -- Rookie wide receiver Josh Huff is apparently both “physically and mentally” ready to play football. Huff is active for Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams, a few days after complaining that he was healthy but inactive in San Francisco last week.
With Huff active, wide receiver Jeff Maehl is inactive for the Rams game.
The other headline regarding the Eagles’ inactive list: Brandon Boykin is not on it. The nickel cornerback injured his hamstring in San Francisco. He returned to that game, but was questionable all week in practice. Boykin practiced Thursday and said his availability would be based on how he felt Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
With Boykin playing, Malcolm Jenkins can remain at safety. Jenkins would slide over to the nickel corner spot, as he did last week. Earl Wolff would replace Jenkins at safety.
Linebacker Mychal Kendricks is inactive for the third consecutive game. Kendricks injured his calf in the Monday night game in Indianapolis and has been slowly progressing toward a return. The platoon of Emmanuel Acho, Casey Matthews and Marcus Smith (in nickel packages) will fill in for Kendricks.
Dennis Kelly, who started at right guard last week, also is inactive. With Lane Johnson returned from his suspension and starting at right tackle, Todd Herremans is back to his right guard spot. Wade Smith is the backup at both guard spots and center, so Kelly will not dress.
