Source: Ray Rice not on Buffalo Bills' radar

After winning his appeal of an indefinite NFL suspension last December, former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice is eligible to play but hasn't signed with any team as July's training camps approach.

In a Sports Illustrated article published last week, an unnamed "high-level club executive" speculated that the Buffalo Bills could be a potential landing spot for Rice because coach Rex Ryan "loves" Rice from their time together in Baltimore, the executive said.

Despite the speculation, a Bills source told ESPN on Sunday the Bills aren't interested in signing Rice.

It's easy to see why Rice wouldn't be on the Bills' radar. They already have a well-stocked running back depth chart that includes veterans LeSean McCoy, Fred Jackson, Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown, as well as fifth-round rookie Karlos Williams. They're also tight on cap space, and that's before considering the organizational decision the Bills would need to make before signing Rice, who was seen on video last year hitting his then-fiancée in a casino hotel elevator.

Running backs coach Anthony Lynn said earlier this month the Bills could still add another running back. If they do, it would more likely be a "camp body" who can take reps in the Bills' "two-spot" drills, when they run two 11-on-11 groups simultaneously.
