LAS VEGAS 9, RENO 8 (10 innings): Roger Bernadina delivered a tiebreaking solo homer in the top of the 10th. The 51s had taken an 8-7 lead with a five-run ninth, capped by Brandon Nimmo's two-out, two-run double. But Josh Smoker surrendered a leadoff homer to Mike Freeman in the bottom of the frame to force extra innings. Box
ERIE 6, BINGHAMTON 5: Alberto Baldonado surrendered a walk-off three-run double to Corey Jones after inheriting the bases loaded in the ninth from Akeel Morris. Pinch runner Dominic Ficociello scored the winning run from first base, narrowly beating second baseman L.J. Mazzilli’s relay throw to the plate. Mazzilli had contributed a three-run homer in a four-run second inning as the B-Mets took an early 4-0 lead. It was Mazzilli's first long ball of the season. Phillip Evans (3-for-4) produced his fourth consecutive multiple-hit game. His RBI single in the seventh gave Binghamton a 5-2 lead. Evans is hitting .404 (23-for-57) in his last 18 games. St. Lucie starter Mickey Jannis allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk in 6 2/3 innings. He retired 12 straight SeaWolves during one stretch. Morris (2-2) walked a season-high three and was charged with all three runs in the ninth. Baldonado suffered his first blown save. Box
ST. LUCIE 8, FORT MYERS 0; FORT MYERS 4, ST. LUCIE 3: Chris Flexen tossed a one-hit shutout in Game 1 of the doubleheader split. Flexen did not walk a batter, hit one and struck out three while throwing 92 pitches in the seven-inning game. Flexen has allowed just two singles in his last two starts, which span 13 1/3 innings. The Mets offense exploded for 13 hits. Tomas Nido belted a two-run double and John Mora crushed a two-run homer. Kevin Taylor went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, one RBI and a walk. Taylor, Amed Rosario, Wuilmer Becerra, Mora and Nido had two hits apiece. The Mets snapped a season-high five-game losing streak. In Game 2, Chris Paul hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh against Ben Griset to plate Tanner Witt. Witt had stolen second base and advanced to third on catcher Lednier Ricardo's throwing error. St. Lucie had appeared in good shape when Taylor crushed a two-run homer that put the Mets up 3-1 in the fifth. However, Alex Real delivered a two-out, two-run game-tying single on a 1-2 count in the bottom of that inning against Kevin McGowan. HAGERSTOWN 6, COLUMBIA 3: Starter Joe Shaw allowed five runs over the first two innings as Hagerstown built an early 5-0 lead. Ivan Wilson contributed RBI doubles in the fifth and sixth innings in the loss. Witt Haggard tossed a scoreless inning of relief in his return from the DL after a nearly two-month absence. Box
