Minors 5.4.15: Robert Gsellman takes no-hit bid into eighth

PORTLAND 4, BINGHAMTON 1: Binghamton went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and committed three errors. Brandon Nimmo produced three hits in the loss. He has multiple hits in five of his last nine games. T.J. Rivera contributed two hits in his third game since returning from a right hamstring strain. B-Mets starter John Gant (1-2) allowed four runs in five innings. In the first inning, Oscar Tejeda attempted to steal second base before the pitch. An errant throw from Gant sailed into the outfield, allowing Jantzen Witty to trot home from third. Binghamton evened the score in the third. Nimmo doubled and Rivera singled to place men on the corners with one out. Jayce Boyd, in his first action after missing five games with a back injury, then beat out a would-be double-play grounder as Nimmo scored. Portland regained the lead a half-inning later with a three-run fourth against Gant. The damage included Luis Martinez's two-run homer. Box

ST. LUCIE 4, PALM BEACH 0: Robert Gsellman took a no-hit bid one out into the eighth inning and ultimately combined with Akeel Morris on a one-hit shutout. Gsellman walked three and struck out six. Ronald Castillo broke up the bid by chopping a single up the middle, beyond the reach of middle infielders Jeff McNeil and Amed Rosario. Gsellman got the next batter, Juan Herrera, to ground into an inning-ending double play. It came on Gsellman's 94th and final pitch. He improved to 4-0 and reduced his ERA to 1.55. Morris struck out the side in the ninth. The Mets scored three runs (one earned) against Alex Reyes, the Cardinals' No. 3-rated prospect. In the second inning, Jhoan Urena drove a ball to the warning track that was dropped by right fielder Rowan Wick. Dominic Smith and Victor Cruzado scored on the error. Champ Stuart led off the third with a double and scored on Michael Conforto's single for a 3-0 lead. The Mets capped the scoring on Urena's two-out RBI single in the eighth. The only hard-hit ball against Gsellman came in the seventh, after he walked two batters with one out. Carson Kelly ripped a line drive to first base. SAVANNAH 6, LAKEWOOD 3: Jean Rodriguez's two-run homer in the fifth gave the Gnats a 4-3 lead. Rodriguez finished 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBIs and two runs scored. Starter Scarlyn Reyes (1-3) allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings. Jimmy Duff, Josh Smoker and David Roseboom combined for 3 1/3 no-hit relief innings. Roseboom recorded his first save. Box
