FRESNO 8, LAS VEGAS 4: Matt Bowman allowed seven runs on eight hits and a walk in 4 2/3 innings. He surrendered homers to Preston Tucker and Domingo Santana. Eric Campbell went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the loss. Hansel Robles and Jack Leathersich combined for 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Box
BINGHAMTON 1, AKRON 0: Rainy Lara, Dario Alvarez and Jon Velasquez combined on the 23rd two-hitter in B-Mets history. Akron failed to get a runner past first base. Jordan Smith singled to lead off the fourth, but was erased by B-Mets catcher Xorge Carrillo while trying to steal second. Lara retired nine of the next 10 batters before walking Anthony Gallas with two outs in the seventh. With the tying run on base, Alvarez entered and needed one pitch to end the threat. He returned for the eighth and registered two quick outs before hitting Bryson Myles with an 0-2 pitch. Alvarez made amends by picking off Myles. Velasquez worked a perfect ninth to secure Binghamton’s first 2015 win and pick up his second career Double-A save. Akron starter Cody Anderson faced the minimum through five. Carrillo was plunked to open the sixth. He then notched his first career steal. Eudy Pina followed with a single. With runners on the corners and one out, Jared King sent a chopper along the first-base line. Jake Lowery leaped to snatch the bouncer and stepped on first, but Carrillo crossed the plate. Box
ST. LUCIE 6, BRADENTON 1: Kevin McGowan allowed one unearned run and four hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out four and induced three double plays. Maikis De La Cruz belted a two-run homer in the fourth against Felipe Gonzalez. Colton Plaia added a two-run homer in the seventh to boost the lead to 4-1. Jeff McNeil and Michael Conforto contributed back-to-back RBI singles in the eighth. With the Mets clinging to a 2-1 lead and two Marauders on base in the seventh, Kelly Secrest got Edwin Espinal to ground out to end the threat. Akeel Morris, who surrendered only five earned runs all of last season with Savannah, breezed through the final two innings for a six-out save. The lone Marauders run came against McGowan in the fifth, when Erich Weiss reached on a walk and advanced from first to third on a passed ball. He scored on a groundout. Champ Stuart, McNeil and De La Cruz had two hits apiece. Box
WEST VIRGINIA 3, SAVANNAH 1: John Mora's single in the third plated Jonathan Johnson with the game's opening run, but the Gnats were blanked the rest of the way. Brad Wieck took a scoreless effort into the fifth, when he surrendered two runs. Mora finished with two of Savannah's four hits. Box
