Report: Injuries could cost Webster over $3 million

Martell Webster is signed through 2016-17, but his salary for next season is only partially guaranteed. Webster can guarantee the entire amount, but he needs to be available for most of the games in 2015-16 and that could be a problem since he is always dealing with injuries. From J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic:

"Webster has to play a total of 180 regular-season games in the first three years (of his contract), CSNmidatlantic.com reported at the time of the signing. If not, the final year will be a partial guarantee of just more than $2 million, CSNmidatlantic.com also has confirmed this week, which is less than 50% of the $5.9 million he could earn. Webster played 78 and 32 games in the first two years of the deal so he'd have to play 70 of 82 games this season, an unrealistic expectation given the Wizards' depth at forward and his current health status."

Webster is currently sidelined due to a hip injury and has yet to play in the preseason and he may not be ready to play once the regular season begins next week. Whenever he does return, Webster will compete with Jared Dudley and Alan Anderson for backup minutes at small forward.
