Aaron Gordon, Elfrid Payton and Mario Hezonja, the No. 5 selection in the 2015 NBA draft, have played well during the Orlando Magic's three Summer League games and the decision has been made to sit them for the last two games of the event. From Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel:
- "The decision makes perfect sense. Whatever Gordon, Hezonja and Payton could gain from playing the remainder of this week simply doesn't outweigh the potential risks of a freak injury or needless wear-and-tear. The trio has nothing left to prove. Gordon, a second-year combo forward, arguably has been the league's best all-around player. In three games, he averaged 21.7 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. His performances should give him more than enough momentum for the remainder of the offseason. ... In 24 minutes per game in summer-league competition, Hezonja averaged 13.0 points 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. Hezonja recently completed a full season in Spain's Liga ACB. Payton, a second-year point guard, played in all 82 of Orlando's regular-season games as a rookie. He always was slated to play in only a few summer-league games this summer."
