Having spent the majority of his career with the Minnesota Twins and the second half of last season with the Chicago White Sox, Justin Morneau is a familiar foe for the Cleveland Indians.

This offseason, however, Morneau is a free agent, and the Indians have been mentioned as a possible suitor, Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Morneau is no longer the perennial MVP candidate he was with the Twins, but he showed with the White Sox last year that he still has some value. The 35-year-old hit .261 with six home runs and 25 RBI in 58 games, all of which came as a designated hitter. He joined Chicago midseason after having elbow surgery last December.
That said, the Indians see Morneau as a veteran bat to plug into the lineup a few games each week, according to Pluto.
Pluto also writes that the Tribe have expressed "casual interest" in another former Twin: Trevor Plouffe. The 30-year-old was cut by Minnesota this offseason after hitting .260 with 12 homers and 47 RBI in 2016. The bulk of Plouffe's playing time in recent years has come at third and first base.
