The Colorado Rockies are bracing for some bad news regarding first baseman Mark Reynolds, who could be headed to the 15-day disabled list because of an injury to his left hand.

Reynolds will undergo an MRI Friday in Philadelphia, and manager Walt Weiss admitted a DL stint is a possibility.
Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post writes the “obvious choice” to replace Reynolds would be Ben Paulsen, the first baseman at Triple-A Albuquerque who has previous big league experience with a .280 batting average in 454 at-bats.
Saunders, however, says Paulsen would add another lefty bat to a lineup already dominated by lefty swingers, so the Rockies could be scanning the waiver wire as well.
Colorado has little margin for error after losing six of its past eight games to fall 4 1/2 games behind in the NL wild card race. It already is dealing with a recent season-ending injury to power-hitting shortstop Trevor Story.
