All the games are in the books for the 2016 season. The New England Patriots won their fifth championship, and it's time to look ahead to next season as every team resets.
With that said, ESPN scouting expert Todd McShay provided his first mock draft of the offseason. Here is what McShay currently predicts for the Miami Dolphins at No. 22 overall:
McShay's pick: TE David Njoku
School: Miami
2016 stats: 43 receptions, 698 yards, eight touchdowns
Analysis: Njoku continues Miami's long tradition of quality tight end prospects. This is a big area of need for the Dolphins, and Njoku is a local college product. Therefore, the pairing makes sense. I lean toward Alabama's O.J. Howard over Njoku in this spot when comparing the two, because Howard is more of a finished product with plenty of big-game experience. Njoku is raw in some areas, such as route running and run blocking, but otherwise he isn't too far off. Both can stretch the middle of the field, which is something the Dolphins and quarterback Ryan Tannehill need. McShay had Howard off the board by the time the Dolphins selected at No. 22. I'm not sure I still would draft a tight end in that case. The position is deep enough to get one in the second or third round, while addressing other needs in the first round such as linebacker.
