When the Kansas City Chiefs recently released Dwayne Bowe, I pointed out many of the mediocre (or worse) quarterbacks that he played with during his season seasons in Kansas City. I thought Bowe might like to continue his career with a team that features a better quarterback than he's played with for most or all of his NFL career.
Instead, Bowe is signing with the Cleveland Browns, where the quarterbacks are Josh McCown, Johnny Manziel, Thaddeus Lewis and Connor Shaw. Is that bunch any better than, say, Damon Huard, Brodie Croyle and Tyler Thigpen.
It's understood that not everyone can play with Aaron Rodgers. Somebody has to play with the bad teams and the bad quarterbacks.
Bowe should know that. He's done that most of his career.
That's why it's surprising he's settling for something less by joining the Browns.
Bowe and the Browns, by the way, will play against the Chiefs in the fall at Arrowhead Stadium.
