Ryan Mallett naps under the jerseys. Kareem Jackson naps in a sleeping bag with his feet up on a chair.
J.J. Watt? He has arranged a bed in the equipment room.
"I love naps," Watt is shown telling his teammates in the third episode of HBO's "Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Houston Texans." "The first part of camp when we had these long breaks, I was glad because I could actually get napping."
The cameras show his bed -- with a tiny J.J. Watt doll tucked under the comforter -- which appears to be in a corner of the Texans' equipment room. There used to be a couch there, but Watt found the bed more useful. The camera shows him sleeping with a shirt that says "hunt greatness" and an Astros ball cap over his face.
He has asked the equipment guys to wake him up if he oversleeps.
"It's the exact same bed I have at home," Watt says. "It's everything I want in a bed. It's awesome. It's perfect."
During Wednesday's press conference, Watt said the bed is not just for him. When he isn't sleeping in it, he does allow others to use it. And that includes the Texans' equipment staff.
"I kind of bought it with that idea in mind," Watt said. "A bunch of guys like to take naps. As long as I'm not in it, it's kind of free to whoever wants it. ... I've seen at least four or five different guys at different times. I've opened it up to the equipment guys and the trainers, too, because those guys, I don't know if you know anything about what their hours are like, but those guys work their butts off."
He added later: "If you guys can get a bed in your workplace, go for it. I advocate highly for naps in the workplace."
This episode opened with Watt taking after his head coach, Bill O'Brien.
"The philosophy of this f---ing squad is off the field we're good-ass dudes; we're nice f---ing guys, we do the right thing," Watt said. "On the field, when you step on the field, you're the baddest f---er on the planet. And together we're the baddest f---ing team on the planet. And that's the way we're going to attack every f---ing day. I don't care who walks into our building. I don't care whose building we walk into. We're the baddest f---er out there."
So to recap, Watt has shown on "Hard Knocks" his love of naps, F-bombs (a pretty normal occurrence for adult football players, or adults in general) and brunch, which recently returned to his life.
