The runway suits some Texans players better than others

The women walking the runway last night were dressed by the store Tootsie's in gowns, cocktail dresses, and jumpers.

The Houston Texans players walking with them? They dressed themselves -- a task more suited to some than others.

They arrived at the behest of Hannah McNair, wife of Texans chief operating officer Cal McNair, to support a charity called Dec My Room, which seeks to brighten the hospital rooms of children making prolonged stays.

"Isn’t that sweet? It’s their offseason and they’re still giving back to the Houston community that loves them so much," Hannah McNair said. "This is part of why we love them. ... These kids in these hospitals look up to them. They’re being the role models that they want them to be."

Among the Texans players participating in the fashion show were cornerback Kareem Jackson, outside linebacker Brooks Reed, inside linebacker Brian Cushing, punter Shane Lechler, offensive lineman Cody White, and tight end Garrett Graham.

Jackson, who designed a clothing line with the Texans last year, was in his element.

.

"I definitely love to be a part of fashion events," said Jackson, dressed head to toe in burgundy, from his suit to his Christian Louboutin loafers. "Kind of gain some knowledge on different things as far as fabric and stuff like that. Everybody’s well dressed and I definitely love to see that, so any time I can come out and put something on out of the closet and walk the runway and it be for a good cause, it’s kind of like everything combined."

Brian Cushing channeled his inner Derek Zoolander.

.

And then there was Shane Lechler, the Texans' 38-year-old punter, old school to the core, who laughed at the thought of his walking the runway.

"I heard we were coming here two weeks ago," Lechler said. "I looked in my closet and got my suit today and was like 'hope everything fits.'"
