Green Bay Packers' special teams snap totals

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- One of the worst seasons the Green Bay Packers have ever had on special teams can't be blamed on injuries or a lack of continuity.

In 18 games (including playoffs), the Packers used 53 players on special teams. That was five fewer than last season, when injuries forced special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum to juggle his coverage and return teams.

In the regular season, they had seven kicks blocked (three field goals, two extra points and two punts). They ranked 30th or 31st in three major categories -- kickoff return average, gross punting average and net punting average.

And of course, there was the botched onside kick recovery and the fake field goal they allowed in the NFC Championship Game.

On the positive side, kicker Mason Crosby made 34 of 40 field goals (85 percent), including playoffs, and Micah Hyde returned two punts for touchdowns.

There were 514 total plays on special teams in the 18 games. Here are the snap-count leaders with playing-time percentages in parenthesis. We're not going to list all 53 players, but rather those who appeared on at least 20 percent of all special teams plays this season.
