Lions' Travis Swanson out, Jason Jones doubtful vs. Bears

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Detroit Lions center Travis Swanson's season is over.

The second-year pro has been declared out for Sunday’s finale against the Bears, leaving the Lions without at least one of their starting offensive linemen.

Veteran Manny Ramirez will likely take Swanson’s place, with the possibility of Gabe Ikard and the recently-promoted Braxston Cave as potential interior linemen reserves. Cave was called up from the practice squad earlier this week.

Swanson started 14 games this season after replacing Dominic Raiola, who was not re-signed after 2014.

Ikard has played in three games this season -- all with the Bills. Cave has yet to play in an NFL game.

The Lions will also likely be without defensive end Jason Jones, who is doubtful with a neck injury. Jones said Friday he would not answer questions about his injury.

Jones might also have played his last game with the Lions, as the 29-year-old is in the final year of his contract.

The Michigan native has had one of the better seasons of his career, making 31 tackles with 4.5 sacks and a forced fumble. He signed with the Lions after one year with the Seahawks in 2012. Prior to that, he spent four seasons with the Titans, the team that drafted him in the second round in 2008.

Calvin Johnson, Ameer Abdullah, Haloti Ngata, Michael Ola, Nevin Lawson and Isa Abdul-Quddus are all listed as questionable but are expected to play.
